Jin Men is located at the east area of Xiamen Island in Fujian,it is a border island which is isolated on the sea.At the end of 19 th century,the area of Jinmen was influenced by the modern Chinese and western culture and the promotion of overseas remittance economy,many unique buildings with the combination of China and the West for home town of overseas Chinese were built.In 1992,the government of Jin Men County developed the local tourism industry,with the Jin Men western style house which has the feature of southern ocean and Chinese culture as the bait for sightseeing,its purpose is to attract the tourists all over the world to travel at Jin Men.After the investigation,I found that the western style house of Chen Qingji at Bishan Village,Jinsha Town,Jin Men county has been registered as one of the historical building of Jin Men county since 2005.The volume of this western style house is huge,it is a historical building with the mixture of Chinese and western culture which is magnificent with gorgeous and complex decoration that is unique and cannot be copied.Although it has been eighty to ninety years,it still presents itself with the relatively complete building for which it has a certain historical value and research significance;it is the cultural asset of historical building with unique charm at the area of Jin Men.This article takes the historical context formed by the western style house at Jin Men as the research background and analyzes the building style and evolution process for western style house at Jin Men,it introduces the western style house of Chen Qingji at Bishan Village,Jinmen County as the individual case for the research,on the base of reference integration and research on site,it deeply analyzes the building style,the structural system and the decoration research of the western style house of Chen Qingji and further explores for the cultural characteristics and aesthetics of building culture contained within it.Meanwhile,from the Perspective of design science,architecture,fine arts and humanities etc.,the potential cultural metaphor and blending relationship between Chen Qingji's Western-style building and modern architecture are further revealed. |
