At present, there are different researches on introducing ideology of Loos. However, few researches expound his theory by the way of analyzing his works. Therefore, this paper wants to start from the study of Loos’s architectural design, leaving aside decoration, materials, and other issues and focusing on Loos’ space design, and re-understand Loos’ space theory. Through researching loos’ space people could understand his works better. Throughout all the Loos’works, The most especial one is the process of housing design which best represent his space evolutionary theory. So this paper attempts to analysis loos’housing design from the angle of space.Firstly in this paper it is summarized of factors affecting Loos’housing design theory and Loos’thinking on housing design. Then according to Loos’housing design theory, based on space analysis of Loos’works, this paper tries to clarify the evolution of loos’space in his housing design, and with this as a basis to make further analysis about his masterprize-Moller house. The problems in this paper are as follows:factors affecting Loos’ housing design theory, summaries about Loos’housing design theory, stage division of Loos’ houses and summaries of each stage features, and space analysis of Moller house. The preface introduces the background, purpose and content of research; the second chapter briefly summarizes the background at that time; chapter three and four are parts of literature review. Chapter three summarizes factors affecting Loos’ housing design theory by two aspects, one of which is the senior masters of architecture, the other housing cultures. Chapter four summrizes Loos’ thought of housing design. Not just space, Loos’thoughts involve plenty of aspects, which are linked closely and that either directly or indirectly affect his design. Firstly Chapter five distinguishes between narrow Raumplan and broad Raumplan, then divides four stages of Loos’individual houses and summarizes their features. Chapter six is to analysis Moller house on the base of previous chapters and tries to compare Moller house with Villa Emo. While showing feature of Moller house, an inheritance relationship between Moller house and Villa Emo can be obtained. Chapter seven includes experiences and shortage of the thesis.
