| In the era of "Internet + shipping",the trend of informationization,digitalization and intelligence of the global shipping industry has been strengthened.Shipping enterprises are facing the double competition of industrial upgrading and competition from domestic and foreign enterprises.Competition between enterprises is a competition for talent,and how to make use of the potential of knowledgeable employees to provide sustainable competitiveness for enterprises is a constant and central topic in organisational management.The shipping industry is an important window for foreign economic trade and an important part of the maritime economy.The shipping industry needs to follow the trend of the times and strive to be at the forefront of economic development.The transformation of the shipping industry cannot be achieved without knowledge-based employees,and the effectiveness of leadership style,as one of the important influencing factors for the development of employees’ potential,is a subject worthy of study.Based on a review of the relationship between leadership,employee satisfaction and job performance,and platform leadership theory,the paper develops a research framework on the impact of platform leadership on employee job performance in the shipping industry.Combining social exchange theory and Maslow’s hierarchy of needs theory,the research hypothesis was formulated to explore the impact of platform leadership on the job performance of employees in the shipping industry by selecting employees in shipping enterprises centred on Ningbo Zhoushan Port.By sorting out some psychological-level mediating variables that exist in the research on the influence of leadership on job performance,the thesis selects the mediating variable of satisfaction and delves into the inner mechanism of the effect of platform leadership on the job performance of employees in the shipping industry of Ningbo Zhoushan Port.The paper used the Platform Leadership Behaviour Specific Scale,the Suniminda Short Form Scale and other mature scales at home and abroad to design the questionnaire.289 questionnaires were collected and 259 valid questionnaires were distributed through the online link,then uses statistical methods such as correlation analysis and cascade regression,and finally makes recommendations based on the results of the empirical analysis.Based on the results of the empirical analysis of the survey data of employees in the shipping industry,this study concludes that platform leadership behaviour positively predicts the performance of knowledge-only employees in the shipping industry.There is a mediating effect of employee satisfaction in the shipping industry in the path of influence of platform leadership on job performance.In summary,shipping companies centred on Ningbo Zhoushan Port can adopt an effective new leadership style of platform leaders to stimulate the potential and improve the performance of their employees.At the same time employee satisfaction promotes the platform type of leadership to the shipping industry employee work performance improvement,employee satisfaction increased,the staff will be more active efforts to put into work,give full play to their own value,improve the competitiveness of shipping enterprises. |
