Research On The Architectural Thought And Design Works Of Balkrishna Doshi

In 2018,the architecture industry "Oscar" award,Pritzker Architecture Award winner is Indian Architect-Balkrishna Doshi(hereinafter referred to as Doshi).As a 91 year old architect at that time,he may no longer be active on the international architectural stage,but he is still valued.Most of his architectural works are in India,with a large number of regional design elements.Doshi talks about space in the context of architecture.He also talks about how myths and memories guide our architectural journey,and how we can discover ourselves in both an inward and an outward way.The practice shows the combination of knowledge and understanding in the field of education and work.This combination will eventually lead to an overall habitat,that is,a human centered space formed through myths,memories and associations.When design space is equal to creating society,work means sharing feelings with others,and producing unforeseen forms and experiences.From the title and content he named for the retrospective exhibition,his architectural thought is indeed closely related to his growth and the surrounding influence of life.This paper is mainly carried out from the following four parts:The first part summarizes the research figures and background and combs out the theoretical framework.It starts from the origin and background of the topic,discusses the purpose and significance of the research,discusses the research status at home and abroad,and discusses the research object and related concepts.The second part according to the example of Balkrishna Doshi ’s architectural works,it studies the formation of his architectural thoughts and the particularity of his design ideas,and analyzes the development of modern Indian architecture and his personal architectural achievements from the architectural works.In the third part,discusses the research background of this paper.Under the condition of multi-element and multi integration of generation religion,region and culture,India,with ancient civilization,still has a profound impact on the current regional architecture.Unconsciously,it inherits generation and has basis to find.Since the social development,the deep-rooted Indian thought still has a great influence,and imperceptibly joins in the designer’s thought,produces the special work;The fourth part summarizes the significance of regional architecture,its economic value,social value and other aspects of the summary,from a philosophical point of view to consider and explore the formation of regional thinking on the meaning of regional architecture works.
