| The social changes under the background of globalization and urbanization lead to the continuous loss of regional architectural cultural characteristics. In addition to the challenges brought by the drastic changes of environment and climate, the expression of locality in architectural creation needs to be paid more attention. As a very active part of contemporary architectural culture, various architectural awards often affect the trend of architectural culture, and also reflect the thinking of human beings about their future destiny in the face of various development problems,The 43 choices of Pritzker Prize since its establishment provide us with a reference dimension. The regional image of Contemporary Taiwan is shaped by the local architects and the foreign architects represented by the Pritzker award-winning architects. In the past 20 years,award-winning architects have participated in a large number of architectural practices in Taiwan, which has greatly changed the urban landscape and people’s way of life. Therefore, how to respond appropriately to the "place" characteristics in architectural creation is also a topic that needs attention in the exploration process of contemporary Chinese mainland architecture.Based on a large number of research literature at home and abroad, combined with on-the-spot investigation and in-depth interviews with architects in Taiwan, this study regards Taiwan as an experimental area with clear boundary between Chinese traditional culture and modernity.Taking the creative practice of the Liz prize winning architects in Taiwan as an example,we understand the trend and trend of international frontiers design, and provide some useful experiences and methods for Chinese mainland’s "in the ground" building practice.First of all, starting from the exploration process of regional architecture in Taiwan, this paper sums up the basis of the study of local architecture in Taiwan;Secondly, this paper makes a comprehensive statistical analysis of the local architects in Taiwan and the Pritzker award-winning architects who have created in Taiwan, and constructs a clear outline and detailed development process of the two groups;Thirdly,it systematically sorts out the architectural creation of Pritzker award-winning architects in Taiwan since 1956,and comprehensively analyzes the practical achievements of this group(quantity, distribution, type, work characteristics, development track, etc). This paper analyzes the creation of award-winning architects from three aspects: natural attributes(topography, climate, geological disasters),human attributes(traditional architectural culture, regional elements, local construction),and characteristics of the times(material and structural innovation, space innovation),summarizes the specific local response strategies of award-winning architects in their creation; Finally, based on the creative practice of the awardwinning architects, this paper discusses the impact and significance of the awardwinning architects on the regional image and construction industry of Taiwan.Taking Taiwan as a sample of China’s urbanization, this paper draws a framework for modernity, regionality and traditional culture, which has both theoretical and practical value, and is beneficial to the exploration of contemporary Chinese regional architecture. |
