A Study On The Factors Affecting The Change Of The Global Value Chain Status Of Chinese Equipment Manufacturing Industry

The equipment manufacturing industry is the basis of country’s industrial productivity and national economic development.With the development of international division of labor and form of production organization,Chinese equipment manufacturing industry is actively integrating into the global value chain through undertaking industrial transfer.This paper measures the global value chain index of Chinese equipment manufacturing industry and its sub-sectors.It finds that the backward participation rate of the global value chain of Chinese equipment manufacturing industry is higher as a whole,and the degree of forward participation is deepening,but the global value chain status index is minus for a long time.The low-tech Chinese equipment manufacturing industry has the higher forward participation index and status,while the high-tech equipment manufacturing industry’s global value chain status index is lower,but the forward participation index has improved rapidly.Compared with Germany,the United States and Japan,Chinese equipment manufacturing industry has a higher level of participation in the global value chain,but its status is lower.According to the empirical model,First of all,the technological innovation capability and the industrial agglomeration are the driving factors for Chinese equipment manufacturing industry to the change of its global value chain status.Secondly,the export growth is obstructive to the change of the global value chain status of Chinese equipment manufacturing industry.Finally,the impact of the advanced human capital and the industrial policies on the improvement of the global value chain status of Chinese equipment manufacturing industry is not significant.Based on the empirical results,this paper proposes policies and recommendations to improve global value chain status of Chinese equipment manufacturing industry.This paper believes that we should pay attention to the construction of industrial clusters for accelerating the advancement of the global value chain status of the equipment manufacturing industry.Secondly,improving the investment structure of scientific research and enhance the ability of technological innovation should be done.We also should improve export trade methods and increase the added value of export trade.Then it is important to expand the domestic market and enhance the competitiveness of domestic enterprises.
