Core competence breeds unique value which makes it distinctive.From the 1950s onwards,Core Competence Theory went through its baby’s time,growing time and empirical time.Resource-based view,integrated view,operable elements view and technical competence view quantitatively described by patent were formed.At present,the popular dynamic core competence theory stresses making changes to accommodate new situations.Based on theories and analysis,core competence on management,technology,human resources,brand and strategic cooperation cannot be physically stripped due to integrity and inheritance.These all factors run different results in different corporations and breed different advantages.The chemical action turns to be the key source of core competence eventually.According to the dynamic core competence theory,advantages in market,technology and products will disappear by merger,purchase and copy.Dynamic theory stresses making changes to accommodate new situations.The development of core competence must be attached to cultivation and improvement of the internal capacities.Existing competence promotes capital accumulation and update of core competence while dynamic development of core competence stimulates new capital.This paper is based on dynamic core competence theory to discuss building sustainable competitive advantages of architectural design industry.Architectural design enterprises and employees are increasing year by year.Output grows rapidly with regional imbalance.The lack of originality and management difficulty block the highway and market demands appear to be more different.This paper aims to find out the basic characteristics of core competence in architectural design industry and in China Southwest Architectural Design&Research Institute Co.,Ltd.The author believes that there are five parts of building the core competence of CSWADI including human resources and knowledge sharing,redistributing the market and gain specialty,regionalization,brand strategy and building strategic partnership.
