Under the background of increasingly frequent tea trade and cultural exchanges at home and abroad,it is particularly important to cultivate the application ability of oral English for tea majors.As an important internal factor affecting the oral English level of tea majors in higher vocational colleges,whether the motivation of oral English learning will affect their oral English achievement is worthy of attention.Therefore,it is of practical significance to explore the relationship between oral English learning motivation and oral English achievement of tea majors in higher vocational colleges.This study,based on Gardner's motivation theory,applies the data analysis and questionnaire survey to the exploration among motivation types,motivation intensity and oral English achievement of tea majors in higher vocational colleges,and tries to reveal the internal rules and characteristics between motivation types,motivation intensity and oral English achievement,so as to broaden the theoretical research on English learning motivation and oral English achievement.At the same time,it is expected to provide some reference for oral English Teaching of tea major in higher vocational colleges.The author attempts to explore the following research questions:(1)What is the overall situation of types and intensity of tea Majors' oral English learning motivation?(2)What is the correlation between oral English learning motivation of tea majors and oral reading,question answering and total scores?(3)How does the motivation of tea major students predict the scores of oral reading,question answering and total scores? In order to answer the above questions,the author selected 122 sophomores of tea major in a vocational college in Fujian Province as the research subjects,and used the questionnaire and oral English test paper as the research tools to investigate the students' oral English learning motivation.Using the SPSS 24.0 software to carry out systematic research on all kinds of data obtained:(1)Generally speaking,the motivation of tea Majors' oral English learning is in the middle level.Among the four dimensions of learning motivation,cultural integration motivation and instrumental motivation were the main ones,followed by situational motivation,and achievement motivation had the lowest mean value;in addition,the intensity of oral learning motivation was low;(2)There are different degrees of correlation between the oral English learning motivation of tea majors and their oral English performance.Among them,instrumental motivation and reading performance had the highest correlation,achievement motivation and question answering performance had the highest correlation,and cultural integration motivation had low correlation with oral performance,while learning situation motivation had no correlation with oral performance.There is a significant correlation between motivation intensity and oral performance;(3)Instrumental motivation and motivation intensity of tea majors have predictive power on reading performance,achievement motivation and motivation intensity have predictive power on question answering performance,instrumental motivation,achievement motivation and motivation intensity have predictive power on oral performance.On the basis of the above findings,the author puts forward the following suggestions:(1)Teachers are expected to make full use of modern multimedia network technology to enhance the students' willingness and self-confidence in oral English learning,and stimulate the students' achievement motivation;(2)Based on the employment needs of students,teachers are required to adjust the content of teaching materials appropriately,guide students in learning objectives and career planning,and promote students' instrumental motivation;(3)It is expected to improve the students' enthusiasm and effort in oral English learning by the reform of assessment methods;(4)Relying on the practical training platform of tea major,teachers are supposed to introduce a mixed modern teaching mode,create a good classroom atmosphere for oral English learning,and enhance the influence of cultural integration motivation and learning situation motivation on oral English achievement.
