Physics concept is the foundation of physics learning.How to improve students' understanding of physics concepts is one of the issues that educators are most concerned about.Mind mapping can show cognitive structure and brain mapping with visualized graphics.Mind mapping is used as the main research tool in this study,and our aim is to establish an evaluation index system for mind maps which can be applied in the evaluation of physics teaching,so as to evaluate the mind maps drawn by students,to know their understanding of the related physics concepts,and to make sure whether there are differences in their conceptual understanding between concepts of quantum mechanics and classical mechanics.The research content is as follows:1.Establish an evaluation index system for mind maps which can be applied to assess students' understanding of physics concepts on the basis of the existing evaluation index system for mind maps created by other researchers.2.Take “one-dimensional infinite square well” in quantum mechanics and “projectile motion” in classical mechanics as examples in the research.Through interviews with physics teaching experts,the high frequency concepts which appeared in their mind maps are chosen as the core concepts,and are used in the questionnaire for students as a hint.3.Apply the evaluation index system to evaluate the mind maps drawn by students.4.Analyze students' scores of each mind map,and compare the differences in the scores of the concepts of classical mechanics and quantum mechanics.The conclusions are as follows:First of all,students and experts have significant differences in their conceptual understanding of classical and quantum mechanics.The difference is that students' understanding of classical concepts is significantly higher than that of quantum concepts,while experts' understanding of quantum concepts is significantly higher than the classical concepts.Secondly,the students' familiarity and understanding of classical concepts and quantum concepts come with a high degree of consistency,that is,the more familiar the students are with the classical concepts,the higher the familiarity with the quantum concepts;the better the students' understanding of the classical concepts,the higher level of understanding of quantum concepts the students have.Thirdly,the results show that the scores of students' mind maps can effectively reflect the students' understanding of concepts.Therefore,the quantitative analysis of mind maps can be applied in physics education research.
