As an important link of China's national economic and social development,the transportation industry plays an important role in promoting high-quality economic development and realizing supply-side structural reform.Accelerating the continuous growth of the green total factor productivity of the transportation industry(referred to as green TFP for short)is a realistic demand for improving the high-quality development of the transportation industry,and it is also an effective way and a significant sign of improving the quality of economic growth.Therefore,this paper conducts research on green TFP in the transportation industry to provide a new perspective for promoting high-quality development and transformation and upgrading of the transportation industry.First,this paper uses the SBM-GML index to measure the green TFP of the transportation industry from 2000 to 2017,and analyzes the development status and source of power of green TFP in the transportation industry.Second,uses the coefficient of variation,Gini coefficient and Theil index to analyze the differences between the green TFP of the transportation industry at the regional and provincial levels;Finally,constructs a panel data model to explore the impact of urbanization level,opening level,transportation efficiency,economic development level,and energy-saving technology level on the transportation industry's green TFP.Research indicates:(1)The overall development quality of green TFP in China's transportation industry is low,but it shows a good development trend.The green TFP in the transportation industry in the eastern,central,and western regions shows a trend from high to low in space from east to west.Technical progress is the main driving force for green TFP in the transportation industry.(2)At the regional level,the intra-regional differences in China's transportation industry green TFP are the main source of the overall difference,showing an "M"-shaped upward fluctuation.The eastern region's transportation industry's green TFP difference is the largest,and the provincial transportation industry development in the region is unbalanced,the difference in green TFP between the transportation industry in the central region and the western region is small,and the range of change tends to be consistent.The development of the transportation industry in the provinces in the region is relatively balanced.At the provincial level,the difference in green TFP in the transportation industry has increased significantly,showing a trend of shrinking after 2016.(3)The level of urbanization has a suppressing effect on the green TFP of the transportation industry.The efficiency of transportation,economic development,the level of opening up,and the level of energy-saving technologies have played a positive role in promoting green TFP in the transportation industry.Based on the research conclusions of this paper,from the aspects of promoting technological progress,reducing the provincial gap,increasing the level of urbanization,expanding the level of opening up to the outside world,and improving energy efficiency,etc.,a reasonable proposal for improving the green TFP of the transportation industry and promoting the high-quality development of the transportation industry Countermeasures.
