Study On County Agricultural Production Efficiency In Hubei Province

With the rapid development of reform and opening up in the past decades,all walks of life in our country are at a stage of rapid development.As a basic industry in our country,agriculture is also the driving force for the development of various industries in our country.It plays a great role in the economic development of our country.With the acceleration of the modernization process,China has made great progress in agriculture in the past ten years.Especially in recent years,the country has been paying more attention to the work concerning agriculture,rural areas and farmers,and has also increased the input of human,material and financial resources in agricultural production.Through the Central Document No.1 in recent years,we can see that our country is gradually finding out solutions to some problems existing in our country's agriculture and putting them into practice.As a result,the development of our country's agricultural production is continuously developing in a good direction.Although the progress made in agricultural production is worthy of recognition,there are still some problems that lead to a large gap between the input and output of agricultural production.Agricultural production efficiency is a very important indicator to measure the development of agricultural production in a country or a region.Some local policies,agricultural production environment,economic development,industrial structure and so on all have certain effects on agricultural production efficiency.Agriculture,as the first of the three major industries,is a basic industry for the development of all industries.Only when agriculture develops can the secondary and tertiary industries develop better.Therefore,studying the efficiency of agricultural production between regions and combining with the actual situation of each region can provide some references for improving agricultural production and ensuring food security in this region to a certain extent,and has great practical significance for promoting the development of agricultural and rural economy in this region.This paper uses the research methods of literature research and quantitative analysis,and through combing the existing domestic and foreign relevant literature related to agricultural production efficiency,county research and DEA model research,to find the innovation and breakthrough point of this topic.This article first analyzes the present situation of Hubei province's agricultural input and output,makes a simple analysis of Hubei province's agricultural production factors,and then selects the appropriate indicators among the analyzed agricultural input and output factors.I select five indicators: fertilizerapplication amount(converted pure amount),commonly used cultivated land area,total power of agricultural machinery,number of agricultural employees and total agricultural output value.I use Malmquist index to calculate and analyze them,and further analyze the calculated agricultural total factor productivity index and its decomposition.Then the agricultural total factor productivity index decomposed by the agricultural total factor productivity index is taken as the explanatory variables,and the per capita fertilizer application amount(net amount),per capita arable land area,per capita total retail sales of social consumer goods,per capita investment in fixed assets,per capita gross domestic product(GDP)and agricultural mechanization level are taken as the explanatory variables,and regression analysis is carried out through the fixed effect model.Finally,the conclusion is drawn and the corresponding countermeasures and suggestions are put forward based on the experience of agricultural production efficiency at home and abroad.Through the above research,the following conclusions are drawn:(1)There is a large gap in agricultural total factor productivity index among regions in Hubei Province,which is largely due to its technical efficiency index.(2)Per capita fertilizer application and per capita GDP have significant negative effects on the agricultural production efficiency of 62counties(cities,districts)in Hubei Province;(3)Per capita arable land area and agricultural mechanization level have positive effects on the agricultural production efficiency of 62counties(cities,districts)in Hubei Province,but the correlation is not high.(4)The total retail sales of social consumer goods per capita has a negative effect on the agricultural production efficiency of 62 counties(cities,districts)in Hubei Province.(5)Per capita investment in fixed assets has a significant positive effect on the agricultural production efficiency of 62 counties(cities,districts)in Hubei Province.(6)Among them,the per capita amount of chemical fertilizer applied(converted into pure amount),the per capita investment in fixed assets and the per capita GDP have a significant impact on the agricultural production efficiency of 62 counties(cities,districts)in Hubei Province.
