Abstract/Summary:
This capstone project was researched and analyzed explain how information sharing impacts collaborative efforts between the intelligence community and first responders. The effects of information sharing between government agencies and first responders are explained. This research begins with identifying the issue that first responders, the country's first preventers, do not have access to useful intelligence information that is needed prior to critical incidents. Identifying current methods used by the federal government lack intelligence sharing. There is a necessity for the federal government to allow first responders access to intelligence information to complete work as intended. This research further explains why law enforcement officials need useful intelligence in real-time and how a need-to-share is vital in all levels of government. This research further explained that top-down thinking is more effective over bottom-up and vertical communication is significant to solving intelligence sharing problems. This research concluded that intelligence sharing can be resolved between the federal government and first responders. The recommendation made is the most logical and cost effective while maintaining national security.
