Abstract/Summary:
The involvement of local law enforcement agencies in information/intelligence sharing has been problematic at best, especially as that sharing relates to federal law enforcement agencies. To avoid future events such as those of September 11, 2001, local law enforcement agencies must be brought into the information/intelligence loop.;A questionnaire was distributed to local law enforcement agencies in California, seeking information about their involvement in information/intelligence gathering and management. The results provided some hope for greater involvement of local law enforcement agencies in the sharing of information/intelligence and suggested areas for improvement of the process. The involvement of local law enforcement agencies in gathering and managing information/intelligence will act as a force multiplier, making the process more effective and efficient overall.
