Abstract/Summary:
In response to the fiercely competitive and rapidly changing environment, U.S. Government and industry joined forces to establish best practices in continuous process improvement. The initiative, known as “Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI),” has gained wide acceptance by business organizations and governmental agencies. CMMI is a model-based process improvement tool that stresses the integration of processes across multiple disciplines.; The present thesis examines the origins of CMMI and provides an annotative explanation of the model's structure. Based on this understanding, an overarching CMMI model is developed by first identifying its gaps relative to other available process standards, and then by bridging the gaps with relevant elements. Thus, the overarching model supersedes non-CMMI standards, and becomes the tool of choice for process improvement.; An innovative application of CMMI in personal life is also proposed. By preserving its existing framework and adapting it to personal life scenarios, it is demonstrated that CMMI could be used as an effective tool in the management of personal affairs. The ultimate goal of the present work is to show that CMMI could be applied and adapted to a wide spectrum of environments.
