Abstract/Summary:
This Master's Degree Project comprises three works of feminist industrial design scholarship that draw on several interdisciplinary sources. The first paper examines how the form of the designed object can reproduce gender stereotypes. The second paper draws on sociology to analyze women's marginalization in industrial design education and practice. The third paper uses literature as a means of reading the gender politics of industrial design in popular culture. Each paper is preceded by an introduction that explains the relevance of the interdisciplinary sources used, and the objectives of the paper as an intervention in feminist design criticism.
