Abstract/Summary:
The future home is a popular topic when discussing the possibilities of technical inventions related to our ordinary needs. The advent of microelectronics combined with the integration of the basic techniques of telecommunications, sensors, optoelectronics and computers are effecting residents' daily life. Each separate use for a household appliance can now be integrated using developed home automation technologies.; This thesis contains a literature study and case studies on the current Smart House technology and market, analyzes the housing demand in the 21 st century, and displays some solutions to security, energy saving, convenience and comfort of residential lifestyle in a prototype design. The purpose is to form a picture regarding the state of the art and current trends of the Smart House market, and what may happen in the future.*; *This dissertation is a compound document (contains both a paper copy and a CD as part of the dissertation).
