With the progress of technology and the raise of material and cultural life at the present stage, people are looking forward to have a safe, comfortable, energy-saving and convenient living environment. Smart home can be centralized or remote monitoring for family affairs by integrating the computer technology, embedded technology, sensor technology, network communication technology and control technology. The information society is gradually changing the way people live and work, so the development and construction of smart home is the inevitable trend of 21st century.This paper discussed general situation and development trend for smart home. Analyzed principle and related technique of the smart home, Analyze and design the smart home, then give out the project of the smart home. Combined Bluetooth technology with ARM technology,this article created the central gateway hardware platform, which based on ARM microprocessor. We can access to public networks through Internet, and domestic appliances and other networking facilities will be connectivity into one through the Bluetooth Wireless LAN to achieve information appliances and guarantee security. According to the specific requirements of embedded system, firstly this paper discusses the embedded system and the development process briefly, analysis of the system hardware platform detailedly including the structure of ARM microprocessor, the memory of S3C2410 and Ethernet chip based on ARM9 nuclear .Secondly study the work principle, kernel structure, related device drivers of operating system Linux and file system. Cutting and transplanting Linux kernel and file system based on the ARM, and adding the embedded Web server Boa, CGI .
