Abstract/Summary:
The Capability Maturity ModelRTM* Integration (CMMI RTM) is a widely accepted process improvement model, which is applicable to a variety of disciplines, including software engineering and systems engineering. The Continuous Model of the CMMI allows an organization to implement any subset of 25 process areas, and each process area may be implemented at any of six Capability levels, resulting in a staggering number of process area/capability level permutations. In order to help an organization decide which permutation of process areas and capabilities is appropriate for their situation, a model is constructed based on that organization's unique demographics, including company size, current process maturity, and goals. Using data collected from software development organizations, a series of models are constructed to predict the most effective implementation of the CMMI Continuous Model and expected budget and schedule performance improvements realized when implementing the CMMI Staged Model.; *The Capibility Maturity Model is a registered trademark of Carnegie Mellon University. CMMI is a registered service mark of Carnegie Mellon University.
