Abstract/Summary:
The intent of this study was to document the transition to DTV as it occurred. That goal was fulfilled in several ways. An outline of how TV has progressed from analog to digital is provided in the introduction of this paper. Details about the new technology can be found there as well. Consumer education efforts are covered extensively in the literature review. Challenges beyond that topic are also introduced in that section. A questionnaire containing 34 inquires on several topics related to the transition was developed. Eight broadcasters were sought out to provide responses to those questions. In these ways the intention of documenting this event in television history is accomplished. Results indicate that the eight television stations who participated in this study are prepared for the switch and that challenges of the process are largely attributable to monetary concerns.
