Spatio-temporal Evolution And Driving Factors Of Economic Development Quality In Yangtze River Economic Belt

The “Yangtze River Economic Belt Strategy” is one of China's three major strategies.Promoting its development is an important layout for the development of the country,and achieving high-quality economic development in the Yangtze River Economic Belt will help promote China's economic structural reform.This paper selects 108 cities with time spans from 1997 to 2016 in the 9 provinces and 2 municipalities of the Yangtze River Economic Belt as the research object,analyzes the status quo of the economic development quality of the Yangtze River Economic Belt and its spatial evolution law,and studies its driving factors.The research content,research methods and main results mainly include the following aspects:(1)The status quo of economic development quality of the Yangtze River Economic Belt.The index evaluation system was constructed from five dimensions of economic strength,market operation,people's life,infrastructure construction and science education.The entropy weight TOPSIS method was used to measure the index weight and the economic development quality of the Yangtze River Economic Belt.It is found that three types of indicators: local finance,opening up and science and technology have a relatively large impact on the quality of urban economic development in the Yangtze River Economic Belt.Relatively speaking,municipalities,provincial capitals or national central cities have higher scores;most cities have lower economic development quality than evaluation.It is worth the average level,indicating that the overall economic development quality of the Yangtze River Economic Belt is low.From the perspective of distribution,the high-level and sub-high-level cities are mainly in the eastern region,while the second-lowest and low-level cities are mostly in the central and western regions.There are differences between regions.(2)Spatial changes in the quality of economic development in the Yangtze River Economic Belt.Firstly,the mean change,the coefficient of variation,the Theil index and the Moran index are used to analyze the overall change of the Yangtze River economic belt,and then the Markov chain is used to analyze the urban type change.The results show that the quality of urban economic development in the Yangtze River Economic Belt is on the rise,and the overall spatial difference shows an inverted U-shaped change.The change of urban type is mainly based on stable transfer,indicating the existence of urban economic development quality in the Yangtze River Economic Belt “Club convergence phenomenon."(3)The quality driving factors of economic development in the Yangtze River Economic Belt.The spatial error model was used to analyze the main influencing factors of the economic development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt.It is found that government support,degree of openness,and industrial structure has always had a significant positive impact on economic development.The economic basis,degree of marketization,and regional innovation capability has a positive effect on economic development,and the direction of degree of informatization has changed from negative.Positive,its force continues to increase and the effect becomes significant,while human capital has different effects at different times.
