As the first Protestant missionary to China in the 19 th century,the British London missionary Robert Morrison was a groundbreaking and representative figure in the history of Chinese and Western cultural exchanges.During his stay in China from 1807 to 1823,Morrison spent a lot of manpower,material and financial resources in the Guangzhou area of China,and collected thousands of Chinese books.In 1823,he brought his books back to the UK and edited Ma Li.The Manuscript of Bibliography.After many circulations,Morrison's collection eventually entered the School of Oriental and African Studies at the University of London.Here,some sinologists compiled a catalogue for the collections,which was edited by John Williams in 1854.The Chinese Library Report,the catalogue of the Morrison Chinese Library,compiled by Samuel Bill,from 1870 to 1880,and the Morrison Library Collection,edited by Andrew C West in 1998.This article is a compilation of the Morrison Chinese Collection of Books,such as the Morrison Manuscript,the Morrison Chinese Library Report,the Morrison Chinese Library Bibliography,and the Morrison Library Collection.The research object,descriptive research on Morrison's Chinese collections and catalogues,and then explore the historical changes of the books of Morrison's collections,and analyze the development and changes of the Morrison catalogue compiled in different periods in the content and style of the recordings.Reveal the philology and bibliographic value of the books of Morrison.This paper is divided into four parts.The first chapter is an overview of the Morrison Manuscript Bibliography.The Morrison Manuscript Bibliography is described in detail from the aspects of recorded content,recorded style,and recorded features.In addition,combined with the book market background of Jiaqing Daoguang years,a detailed analysis of the book prices recorded in the "Maryson Manuscripts Bibliography" was made.The second chapter is the development of the book collection of Morrison.It mainly combs the history of the Morrison collection from the Ma Lixun manuscript to the Morrison Chinese Library Report and then to the Morrison Library Collection.Change.And compare the development and changes in the recording style and the recorded content.The third chapter is the collection of Chinese collections from the Morrison's collection of books,and the specific description of the characteristics of Morrison's Chinese collection and the novels.The fourth chapter is the academic value of Morrison's collection of books,focusing on the important value of Morrison's Chinese collection and its collection of bibliography in bibliography and philology.From the Morrison Manuscripts(1824)to the Morrison Chinese Library Report(1854)and then to the 1998 Morrison Collection(1998),Morrison's collection of books has gone through one hundred More than 70 years of development and change,both the way of recording and the content of the description are becoming more and more mature.Moreover,the different classifications of these three categories can also be regarded as the representative of the British library's collection of Chinese books,and at the same time it presents a dynamic development trend.These categories of catalogues are recorded in the same category of books,which is not only the embodiment of different ideological systems,but also the proof of the continuous development and improvement of the catalogue of Chinese books compiled by Westerners.
