Since the20th century, the foreign bibliography has had a profound impact on chinese bibliography.On the basis of summing up and inheriting the traditional bibliography, our bibliographers drew on the theory and technology of foreign bibliography, formed and perfected our bibliography theoretical system.Theory guided and promoted the development of bibliographic practice. According to the three trends and effect of learning foreign bibliography, we can divide the20th Century into three phases:from the early20th century to1949, from1949to1966, from the1980s to now. Analyzing the three stages of the country’s political, economic, cultural and professional background, this paper discusses the influence of bibliography which foreign bibliography had on us in the20th Century. Summing up the limitations of the development of chinese bibliography the paper draw the following conclusions:First, we should deal well with the relationship between academic and practical purposes. Second, we should strengthen exchanges between the west bibliography and chinese bibliography. Third, we should improve bibliographic work technology, and make bibliographic services closer to users. Fourth, we should improve bibliographic information services. Under network environment, through the identification of the information collection, processing, organization, management, and reporting to reveal information, we meet the users demand for access to information to the greatest extent.
