Millimeter wave linear frequency modulated continuous wave(LFMCW)radar has been widely used in military and civilian fields because of its low power consumption,high integration and high resolution.Aiming at the actual demands of detecting small and weak targets in the strong ground clutter environment,this paper studies the clutter suppression and CFAR detection algorithm based on the millimeter wave LFMCW short range radar.The main research contents are summarized as follows.(1)For the problem of ground clutter suppression,the method of MTI and MTD clutter suppression based on LFMCW radar is analyzed.Several corresponding MTI cancellation strategies are simulated and compared.At the same time,for the selection of window function in the procession of MTD and whether to add MTI to cancellation,this paper carries out a detailed analysis and discussion based on the computational resource and R-D spectrum distortion,an LFMCW radar MTD treatment scheme based on recursive first-order MTI is designed.(2)For the problem of motion clutter and noise interference suppression,a 2D-VI-CFAR detector which extends the VI-CFAR detection method to two-dimensional R-D spectrum is proposed.Based on the window selection,parameter selection,the corresponding detection strategy and algorithm implementation process are provided.Finally,trough qualitative and quantitative simulation comparison with several classic 2D-CFAR detectors,the excellent detection performance of the 2D-VI-CFAR detector for LFMCW radar two-dimensional R-D targets is tested.(3)For the method of clutter suppression and 2D-VI-CFAR detection proposed in this paper,the hardware implementation scheme based on FPGA is briefly investigated.At last,the effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed clutter suppression and target detection scheme is further verified by the out-field experiment carried out with the 8mm band LFMCW radar system in the laboratory.
