Research On The Heterogeneity Of Korean Hanzi Words From Chinese And Its Reasons

A large amount of homographs and "reverse-order words" exists in Sino-Korean and modern Chinese vocabulary.On the one hand,homographs have positive influence on Korean Chinese-learners.On the other hand,it may also leads to confusion.It is due to the differences of usage and meaning of homographs in Korean and Chinese.We suppose the meaning of words from ancient Chinese as original meaning,we name the homographs that have differences in meanings in both languages as "semantic-alienated Chinese vocabulary".Those homographs that have differences in appearances are "appearance-alienated Chinese vocabulary".This paper analyzes the alienation of homographs and the causes by using two syllable words from 8 Chinese textbooks used in Korean high schools.The paper has 3 chapters.Chapter One introduces meanings and usage of contemporary Sino-Korean vocabulary and the transformation of homographs in Korean.Chapter Two categorizes semantic-alienated Chinese vocabulary as semantic extension,abridgment and transformation.Appearance-alienated Chinese vocabulary are studied as "Same-morpheme and opposite-order","partially different morpheme"and "completely different morpheme".Chapter Three uses examples in the second chapter,analyzing the causes of alienation,including linguistic,historical,social and psychological aspects,as well as the new terminological necessity.The termination and reserve of ancient language,the impact of Japanese and new words in both Chinese and Korean are also key causes analyzed in this chapter.
