With the introduction of digital technology in the field of dental restorations,aesthetic anterior teeth restoration is transformed by doctor-and-technologist restoration to a “doctor-patient-technologist” restoration,where patients participate throughout and improve the success rate of restoration.The most important technologies are Digital Smile Design(DSD)technology and Intraoral Digital Impression technology.DSD includes two-dimensional digital smile design(2D-DSD)and three-dimensional digital smile design(3D-DSD).The first part of this research is a investigation on the patient satisfaction with respect to the aesthetic anterior teeth restoration using DSD.Objective: we compare the advantages and disadvantages of DSD technology with those of traditional anterior aesthetic photographic technique.Methods: we divide the 32 patients,who need aesthetic anterior teeth restoration,into experimental group and control group randomly,where 16 patients in each group.The experimental group includes the patients who using the DSD technique,while the control group includes the other patients who use anterior aesthetic photographic technique.We use the Visual Analogue Scale(VAS)to evaluate the effect of the restoration.Results: Patients in the experimental group have higher satisfaction than the control group.The difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion: The results demonstrate that applying DSD technology to aesthetic anterior teeth restoration will produce better restoration results than anterior aesthetic photographic technique,and the main effect is reflected in communication.Recently,the use of 3D-DSD technology has been used internationally,which can realize full digitization of esthetic restoration.This requires the combination of digital models and digital photographs.Therefore,the successful acquisition of intraoral digital impressions becomes a prerequisite,and the accuracy of impressions must meet the standard of clinical application of dental aesthetic restoration.Therefore,the second part of this study is about the research of digital impression technology in the mouth.We review the frontier research related to digitalimpressions,exclude the repetitive research,incorporate the literatures,and conducting literature analysis.The research summarize the progress of the digital impressions,and prove the necessity of using intraoral digital impression technology in the aesthetic anterior teeth restoration.
