College students' suicides have always been a hot spot of social concern.How to effectively reduce suicide rate and improve mental health level has become the focus and difficulty of college psychologists.This study adopts quantitative research and intervention research,to explore the relationships among college students' life meaning,boredom proneness and suicidal ideation.In the first study,"The Meaning of Life Scale"," Boredom Proneness Scale" and "Self-rating Idea of Suicide Scale"were used to investigate 654 college students in Nanjing.In the second study,a group counseling was organized for 10 weeks.24 college students were screened out through open recruitment and individual interviews,who were randomly assigned to the intervention group and the control group.The intervention group received 10 psychological interventions and the control group did not receive any special intervention.Then,through the analysis of the quantitative data and qualitative data obtained in the group counseling process,the intervention effect was discussed.The results revealed that:1.For life meaning of college students,there were significantly differences in family status and whether suffering from physical illness;for boredom proneness,there were significantly differences in hometown and grade;for suicidal ideation,there were significantly differences in sex,family status and whether suffering from physical illness.2.This study indicated that college students' life meaning and boredom proneness were significantly negatively related;boredom proneness and suicidal ideation had a significantly positive correlation;life meaning and suicidal ideation had a significantly negative correlation.3.Among college students,life meaning played a negative role in the prediction of boredom proneness;boredom proneness could positively predict suicidal ideation;and life meaning had a negative predictive effect on suicidal ideation.4.College students' boredom proneness played a partly mediating role on the relationship between life meaning and suicidal ideation.5.After the life meaning group counseling intervention,life meaning,boredom proneness and suicidal ideation of the intervention group changed significantly.Compared with the control group,there was a significant difference between the two groups in terms of life meaning,boredom proneness and suicidal ideation6.A variety of qualitative materials showed that the life meaning group counseling intervention could effectively improve the status quo of college students'life meaning,boredom proneness and suicidal ideation.The conclusions were as followed:1.There was a significant correlation between the life meaning,boredom proneness and suicidal ideation of college students.At the same time,the life meaning and boredom proneness had obvious explanatory power for suicidal ideation.2.College students' boredom proneness played a partly mediating role on the relationship between life meaning and suicidal ideation.The individual with high life meaning was less likely to produce suicidal ideation,and could also reduce the appearance of suicidal ideation by suppressing boredom proneness.3.The life meaning group counseling intervention could effectively improve the status quo of college students' life meaning,boredom proneness and suicidal ideation.
