Effect Of Meaning In Life On Suicidal Ideation:Moderated Mediating Effect

Positive psychology emphasizes the exploration of the positive force within the youth,and through the positive quality to maintain the individual's mental health.Studies have shown that the meaning in life has a positive effect on suicidal ideation.Generally,individuals with high level meaning in life are more likely to have positive emotional experiences and are good at coping with problems with positive resources.According to the ecological systems,the development of teenagers is influenced by the individual and the external environment,and the life events as the external environment have an impact on the development of the individual.The current study included both individual and environmental factors to explore the relationship between meaning in life,positive psychological capital,life events and suicidal ideation.410 middle school students are selected as the research's objects in 3 schools in Lanzhou city.Through the Meaning in Life Questionnaire(MLQ),Positive Psychological Capital Questionnaire(PPQ),Adolescent Self-Rating Life Events List(ASLEC)and Positive and Negative Suicide Ideation(PANSI)to investigate the status of students of meaning in life,positive psychological capital,life events and suicidal ideation,and explore the meaning in life on the influence mechanism of suicidal ideation.The results showed that,there were significant differences in different grades in the meaning in life,positive psychological capital,life events score.The overall situation is decreasing with the increase of grade in the meaning in life and positive psychological capital.SPSS17.0 is used for descriptive statistical analysis,AMOS20.0 and Boostrap procedure are used to examine the mediation effect.Meaning in life through the positive psychological capital impact on suicidal ideation.The positive psychological capital plays a mediator role between meaning in life and suicidal ideation.And life events plays moderate role between positive psychological capital and suicidal ideation.Positive psychological capital has a negative effect on suicidal ideation,whether at the high level or at the low level.But when a high level of life events occurs,positive psychological capital has moreimpact on suicidal ideation.In conclusion,the influence of meaning in life on suicidal ideation that is a moderated mediating effect.
