OBJECTIVE:To test whether group intervention for self-stigma in patients with depression is effective in reducing self-stigma in patients with depression.METHODS:Fourteen patients with depression in a psychiatric ward in a hospital in Wuhan were selected as a study sample.Group counseling was given to patients with depression by narrative enhancement and cognitive therapy. The research methods used in this study were tested before and after the experimental group and the control group. The experimental group and the control group were all 7 subjects. The experimental group was treated with group counseling, and other treatments in the hospital were also performed. The control group was not involved in group intervention. The other is the same as the experimental group.Group counseling lasted for 8 days and was performed once a day. Before and after the group intervention, both groups completed the Internalized Stigma of Mental Illness Scale and gave it to the researchers. One month after group counseling, the self-stigma levels of all subjects were followed up to test whether group counseling had long-term effects on self-stigma intervention in depression patients. In this study,SPSS20.0 was used to compare and analyze the data. The data analysis methods were independent sample T test, repeated measurement analysis of variance and chi-square test.Results:1.The T-test of independent samples of the ages of the experimental group and the control group showed that the age difference between the two groups was not significant(P>0.05).A chi-square analysis of the genders of the two groups of subjects showed that there was no significant difference in age between the two groups(P>0.05).There was no significant difference between the experimental group and the control group in the total score of the pre-measurement table and its five dimensions(P>0.05),indicating that the baseline level was consistent.2.After the end of group counseling, the interaction between time and group was significant in the total score of the mental illness internalization stigma scale(F=8.807,P<0.01).The difference between the two groups before and after the test change and the change of the pre-test and follow-up test were significant(P<0.05),indicating that group intervention has not only short-term effects on self-polling of depressed patients, but also long-term effects.3.In each dimension of the mental illness internalization stigma scale, the main effect of the value negation dimension time is significant, the group main effect is significant, the social withdrawal dimension time main effect is significant, the life meaningless dimension interaction is significant, and the remaining dimension time main effect is not significantly, the main effect of the group was not significant, and the interaction between time and group was not significant. One month after the end of the group, the change values of the two groups were compared with the pre-test and follow-up changes. It was found that at the end of the group intervention,Only in the dimension of "life is meaningless",the experimental group changed more than the control group, indicating that there was a short-term effect on group intervention in this dimension, and after one month, the results showed that "life is meaningless" and "In the two dimensions, the change in the experimental group is even greater. It can be seen that in these two aspects, group intervention has a certain long-term effect.Conclusions:1.Narrative enhancement and cognitive therapy group intervention can significantly reduce the self-polling of patients with depression, indicating that this group of foreign self-stigma interventions for mental patients is applicable to the Chinese cultural environment and is suitable for college students with depression. The promotion of patients can alleviate the self-stigma of college students with depression,so that patients can better adapt to life after discharge.2.Use this program for group intervention to alleviate the self-polling of college students with depression. The short-term effects are mainly in the meaninglessness of life. The long-term effects are mainly manifested in two aspects:discrimination experience and lifeless meaning.Group members in the mutual support group learn about the misunderstanding of depression and the knowledge of reality and cognitive reconstruction strategies, and explore and exchange with each other,so that members can improve their discrimination experience and life meaninglessness. The self-stigma of group members is significantly reduced overall.
