Depression is one of the most serious and common mental illness. In collectivist cultures, people hold more public stigma in patients with mental diseases and mental illness, when mental illness patients suffered public stigma and after that they internalization to self-stigma,which will reduce their professional help, treatment adherence, and affect the rehabilitation, and even lead to suicide. The intervention methods of self-stigma mainly include psychoeducation, empowerment, cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing and comprehensive intervention, etc. At present, domestic and foreign researches on the self-stigma and help-seeking of patients with depression have some shortcomings, such as low reliability and validity of measurement tools, lack of pertinence of intervention objects, and unclear effective mechanism of intervention programs. However, there is a lack of empirical research on the self-stigma theory of chinese localization.Considering the stigma of the theory and practice significance of the study,we adopt the method of questionnaire survey and the psychoeducation intervention, and in this paper, the perceived public stigma in patients with depression self-stigma and professional help, medication adherence were discussed, which will help further make clear the relation between the three, and the active ingredients of depression self-stigma of intervention study.Arounding this goal,we conducted the following three studies:Study 1,a questionnaire was used to investigate the mediating effect of self-stigma on perceived public stigma,help-seeking attitude and drug adherence of depressed college students.A total of 126 outpatients with depression were recruited from three university hospitals and two hospitals in wuhan, hubei province. The results showed that the perceived level of self-stigma was significantly correlated with the willingness to take medicine, but the perceived level of public stigma was not significantly correlated with the willingness to take medicine.Study 2,on the basis of the results of study 1,combined with the existing theoretical and practical studies,a completely random two-factor design was adopted to reduce the level of self-stigma of patients with depression through psychoeducation, and the influence of the reduction of self-stigma on drug adherence of patients with depression in the intervention group, the control group and the waiting group was discussed. The results showed that psychoeducation in the form of individual intervention could not affect the self-stigma and drug adherence of patients with depression.Study 3 further explored the effective mechanism of psychoeducation on the basis of the previous two studies, and adopted a completely random design of two factors to compare the changes of self-stigma and drug adherence of subjects in the video viewing group and the discussion group. The results showed that after group discussion, the level of self-stigma of the subjects was significantly reduced, but there was no significant change in drug adherence. In the end,the shortcomings of this study are reconsidered from the perspective of intervention methods and design, and the assumptions for future research were put forward, and the theoretical and practical significance of this study was also discussed.
