Clinical Observation Of Qidan Fugan Granules In Treating Children With Repeated Respiratory Tract Infection With Qi Deficiency And Blood Stasis Syndrome

Objective:The morbidity of respiratory tract infection in children has always been high due to pollution and inappropriate nursing.Many of these children finally diagnosed Recurrent Respiratory Tract Infection(RRTI).RRTI affects both mental and physical health of children,and is burden to their families and the society.This study is to figure out effects and mechanisms of treating RRTI(Qi deficiency and blood stasis syndrome)with Qidanfugan Granule,to improve treatment of RRTI with traditional chinese medicine.Methods:55 children(2-14 years old)diagnosed RRTI Qi deficiency and blood stasis syndrome in pediatric department of Dongzhimen Hospital affliated to Beijing University of Chinese Medicine during November 2017 to June 2018 were involved in this study.The children were randomly seperated into 2 groups(treatment group and control group).Children in treatment group were prescribed with Qidanfugan Granule based on supplementing Qi,promoting blood and activating spleen.Main contents of Qidanfugan Granule are Huangqi,Taizishen,Baizhu,Danshen,Chishao,and Jineijin.Children in control group were prescribed with Yupingfeng Granule.The children were involved in this study during remission,and were treated for 2 mo nths.Dosage varies according to age.We would pause treatment if acute infections happened during study,and continue when they were relieved.We assessed the children with classification scale and chinese medicine syndrome scale,and collected saliva specimens before and after the treatments.SIgA level in saliva was detected with ELISA before and after the treatments to assess mucosal immune function.We followed up for 6 months after the treatments were withdrawn to compare long lasting effects of the 2 granules.All data was processed with SPSS 20.0,among which,enumeration data was analyzed with X2 test,measurement data was analyzed with T test if it followed normal distribution and with Wilcoxon rank test if not.P<0.05 was used for statistic significance.Results:1.Treatment effects:ORR in treatment group is 92.6%,which is higher than 83.3%in control group.But the 2 groups show no difference when analyzed with X2 test(x2=1.049,P=0.306).Comparing syptom scores before and after treatment in treatment group and control group,the differences have statistic significance(P<0.05),which indicates both Qidanfugan granule and Yupingfeng granule are effective to RRTI.Comparing syptom scores after 6-month follow up,they show statistic significance between the 2 groups(P<0.05),which indicates Qidanfugan has better long lasting effects.2.Treatment effects in Traditional Chinese Medicine:ORR in treatment group is 92.6%,and it's 87.5%in control group.The ORRs in 2 groups show no statistic significance(P>0.05),which indicates Qidanfugan granule has similar effects as Yupingfeng granule.3.Treatment effects to Chinese Medicine syptoms:both Qidanfugan granule and Yupingfeng granule can improve syptoms in Chinese Medicine when comparing within each group.Qidanfugan granule has better effects for chinese medicine syptoms compared with Yupingfeng granule.4.Effects for simple symtom in Chinese Medicine:all syptoms have better score after treatment in both treatment and control group(P<0.05),except loose stool.There's no statistic significance between Qidanfugan granule and Yupingfeng granule on effects of spontaneous sweating,pale complexion,fatigue and loose stool,but there is on effects of poor appetite,dark complexion and orbit(P<0.05),and Qidanfugan ganmule is better than Yupingfeng granule.5.Mucosal immune index:there is statistic significance when comparing SIgA level before and after treatment in 2 groups with T test(P<0.05),which indicates Qidanfugan granule and Yupingfeng granule can both improve SIgA level of RRTI children.But SIgA level after treatment in 2 groups shows no statistic significance(P>0.05),which indicates Qidanfugan granule has similar effects on improving mucosal immune functions as Yupingfeng granule.Conclusion:Qidanfugan granule is effective for RRTI Qi deficiency and blood stasis syndrome,can relieve syptoms and improve mucosal immune function.Its effects on treating RRTI is similar to Yupingfeng granule,but is's more effective on improving appetite,brightening complexion and orbit than Yupingfeng granule.
