The Clinical Study Of Three-dimensional Bone Orthopedic Massage Combined With Electric Acupuncture In The Treatment Of Lumbar Disc Herniation And Numbness Of The Lower Extremities

Background:Several conservative therapies have been shown to be beneficial in the treatment of lumbar disc herniation(LDH),including different forms spinal manipulative therapy and acupuncture.The efficacy of massage in the treatment of lower limb numbness remains inconclusive in LDH populations.Purpose:The purpose of this study was to assess the efficacy of three-dimensional bone-setting massage for the treatment of lower limb numbness due to LDH.Methods:This randomized clinical trial examined the relative efficacy of three-dimensional bone-setting massage with electro acupuncture,and electroacupuncture for the treatment of lower limb numbness due to LDH of at least 20 days duration.The principal measures were Numbness Visual Analogue Score?Sensory Quantitative Testing?Frequency of numbness?Japanese Orthopaedic Association Score for LDH.Results:A total of 42 individuals were included in this trial.For all two treatment groups,outcomes improved during the 20 days of treatment.Those who received three-dimensional bone-setting massage with electro acupuncture were most satisfied with Japanese Orthopaedic Association Score for LDH(P<0.01);they did not significantly differ from those receiving electro acupuncture terms of other measures(Sensory Quantitative Testing?Frequency of numbness).Conclusions:Three-dimensional bone-setting massage combined with electro-Acupuncture and electro-acupuncture play an active role in the treatment of lower limb numbness in lumbar disc herniation;Three-dimensional bone-setting massage may have a certain clinical effect in the treatment of lower limb numbness due to LDH,but the effect is not particularly significant.
