The Clinical Effect Observation On "Tongdu Huoxue" Acupuncture Treating Lower Limb Numbness Caused By Lumbar Disc Herniation

Objective observing the clinical efficacy of "Tongdu Huoxue" acupuncture in the treatment on lumbar disc herniation(LDH)patients with lower extremity numbness to explore the theoretical basis and safety of this therapy with will provide a safe and effective treatment for the clinical treatment of lower limb numbness caused by lumbar disc herniation.Methods In a randomized controlled trial,64 patients with lower limb numbness caused by LDH were included in the study.All of the cases were come from the acupuncture clinic of the First Teaching Hospital of Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine during October 2018 to October 2019.The patients were randomly divided into treatment group(n = 32)and control group(n = 32).The treatment group was treated with acupuncture method of "Tongdu Huoxue",choosing lumber spine arrangement acupuncture,Baihui(DU20),Sishencong(EX-HN1),Zusanli(ST36),Weizhong(B40),Fengchi(G20),Shenshu(BL23),Dachangshu(BL25),Huantiao(GB30),Fengshi(B12),Yanglingquan(GB34),Kunlun(BL60).The control group choose Shenshu(BL23),Dachangshu(BL25),Huantiao(GB30),Yanglingquan(GB34),Weizhong(B40)and Kunlun(BL60)based on the new century edition of Principles of Acupuncture Therapeutics.The patients were treated once a day,5 times a week,and 14 times as a course of treatment.The visual analogue score(VAS),Japanese Orthopaedic Association Scores(JOA)and Quantitative Sensory Testing(QST)score of the two groups were observed before and after one course of treatment.The final data were analyzed by SPSS21.Measurement data in accordance with normal distribution were analyzed by t-test,measurement data in accordance with skewness distribution were analyzed by rank sum test,counting data were analyzed by chi-square test,ranked data were analyzed by rank sum test.P<0.05 was considered statistically significant different test.Results 1 Before treatment,there was no significant difference in sex,age,course of disease,TCM syndrome type,JOA score,VAS score and QST score between the two groups(P>0.05),indicating that the two groups were comparable.2 Comparison of JOA scores: there were significant differences between the JOA scores before treatment and the JOA scores after treatment in each group(P<0.05),and there were significant differences in JOA scores after treatment between the two groups(P<0.05),indicating that acupuncture could improve the symptoms of lumbar vertebrae in both groups,while the treatment group had a more significant advantage.3 Comparison of VAS scores: there were significant differences between the VAS scores before treatment and the JOA scores after treatment in each group(P<0.05),and there were significant differences in VAS scores after treatment between the two groups(P<0.05),indicating that acupuncture could improve the degree of lower limb numbness in both groups,while the treatment group had a more significant advantage.4 Comparison of QST scores: there were significant differences between the scores of 10 g cotton swab test before and after treatment in each group(P<0.05),and there were significant differences in the scores of 10 g cotton swab test after treatment between the two groups(P<0.05).There was significant difference between the score of 40 g pressure acupuncture test before and after treatment in treatment group(P<0.05),but no significant difference in the control group(P > 0.05).After treatment,there was no significant difference in the score of 40 g pressure acupuncture test between the two groups(P > 0.05),indicating that the effect of the treatment group on lower limb numbness caused by lumbar disc herniation was better than that of the control group.5 The total effective rate of "Tongdu Huoxue" acupuncture group was 87.10%,while the routine acupuncture group was 74.19%,the difference was statistically significant(P < 0.05).6 there were no adverse events in both groups during the study.Conclusion The acupuncture method of "Tongdu Huoxue" in the treatment of lower limb numbness caused by lumbar disc herniation possesses definite curative effect,which can effectively reduce the lower limbs numbness of LDH patients,improve the overall symptoms of lumbar spine and the living quality of patients.
