| Business ecosystems are valuable to facilitate enterprises to innovate,increase customer accesses,and respond to changing environment.Therefore,they have attracted attention from an increasing number of scholars and entrepreneurs in recent years.Many enterprises have started operating their business ecosystems in order to obtain and sustain competitive advantages.However,although some enterprises have successfully built business ecosystems,most of them have experienced failures in the evolution process of business ecosystems.The essence of business ecosystems is relationship combination among keystones and other stakeholders,which is built through spanning boundaries.In the early stage of a business ecosystem,it often requires the keystone to attract a number of new stakeholders.Thus,spanning political boundaries plays a crucial role for the evolution of the business ecosystem.Given the above mentioned phenomenon,this thesis,by introducing two concepts of boundary resources and tuning,and conducting a comparative case study by using a successful case,Handu,and a failure case,Letv,aims to investigate the mechanism of business ecosystem evolution through spanning political boundary.The results show that boundary resources,tuning and boundary spanning are a dynamic process in the evolution of business ecosystems through spanning political boundary.Due to the involvement of new stakeholders,enriching of boundary resources by keystones plays a crucial role in the evolution of the business ecosystem,which is also the focus of tuning.The study enriches the existing theory of keystones' tuning boundary resources in business ecosystems by expanding the existing theory which studies business ecosystem evolution through spanning interpretive boundary to spanning political boundary,and improves the theory of business ecosystem.Meanwhile,it also provides a reference for keystones to attract and retain new stakeholders and to promote the evolution of business ecosystem in the early stage. |
