With the development of regional economic integration and economic globalization, the economic and trade relations between countries become gradually open, meanwhile the tariff rate in most countries has decreased into low level, some even use zero-tariff policy. At the same time, traditional non-tariff barriers have also been reduced in many countries, thus the influence of these traditional trade barriers on international trades become increasingly low. However, the trade inefficiency,as a new invisible market access barrier, plays an increasingly important role in international trades.Consequently, how to lower the effect of trade inefficiency, which means how to improve trade facilitation, has become a major topic to most countries and organizations. In September and October 2013,president Xi Jinping proposed the “Silk Road Economic Belt” and “21st Century Maritime Silk Road” separately(the “Belt and Road”),to initiate a new approach of regional economic cooperation to develop economy and to realize common prosperity and cooperation for a win-win situation. To improve mutual connection and communication, which the “Belt and Road” plan proposes, has a significant improvement in trade facilitation, and finally in regional trades,of countries from the region, which can also greatly improve the export trade from China.According to customs statistics, the export of mechanical and electrical products from China valued 2 trillion USD in total in 2016,which is the pillar products, accounts to 53.8% of total value of imports and exports of all goods in 2016.Based on the background described above, the thesis firstly introduces the meaning and related theories of trade facilitation, then sorts out the status of research at home and abroad.Secondly, the thesis analyzed the current situation of the export of mechanical and electrical products from China to the whole world and to countries from the “Belt and Road”,meanwhile the export scale and export structure have also been analyzed.Thirdly, the thesis collects data of 2012-2016 from 41 picked countries from the “Belt and Road”,using Port efficiency,Customs environment,Regulatory environment,Finance and E-commerce as 4 first-level indicators, together with corresponding 15 secondary indicators as the Trade Facilitation Indicator System to measure the trade facilitation level of the 41 countries. The result shows that the trade facilitation level of different countries varies greatly and most countries fall in the inconvenient level. Finally,by using trade gravity model, the thesis analyzes the overall effect and the sub-item effect of each first-level indicator, results show that every 1% increase of the 41 countries from the “Belt and Road” in trade facilitation level will lead to 1.178% increase of the export of mechanical and electrical products from China in this area, then political suggestions are put forward.
