A Study On The Efficiency Of China’s Export Trade In Mechanical And Electrical Products To Asean In The Context Of The “Belt And Road”

Mechanical and electrical products occupy an important position in China’s foreign trade,and with the promotion of "Belt and Road" construction,China’s trade in mechanical and electrical products to countries along the "Belt and Road" has increased accordingly.Among the countries along the "Belt and Road",China and ASEAN are important economic partners,and ASEAN will overtake the EU to become China’s largest trading partner in 2020,highlighting the resilience and potential of trade between the two sides.In this context,studying the efficiency of China’s export trade of mechanical and electrical products to ASEAN in the high-quality and deep-level,but also help to optimize the structure of China’s electromechanical industry chain.The paper firstly analyzes the current situation and problems of export trade of mechanical and electrical products from three perspectives: trade scale,product structure and country structure of China’s mechanical and electrical products.In terms of trade scale,the export of mechanical and electrical products showed an upward trend as a whole,but the stability of export growth was insufficient;In terms of product structure,the main exports are electrical and electronic equipment and mechanical equipment,with high product clustering;In terms of export countries,the export of mechanical and electrical products are concentrated in some ASEAN countries.Then,in terms of empirical research,the paper selects the export trade data from 2013 to 2021,adopts the stochastic frontier gravity model and trade inefficiency model respectively,and uses Frontier4.1 software to regress and analyze the natural and man-made factors affecting the export trade efficiency of mechanical and electrical products.The results show that both natural and man-made factors have a significant impact on the export trade efficiency value,among the natural factors,the number of our population has the greatest impact,and among man-made factors,the freedom of trade is the greatest.Finally,based on the results of theoretical analysis and empirical research,suggestions are made to promote export trade efficiency: it is recommended to enhance the technical added value of mechanical and electrical products,adjust the structure of China’s mechanical and electrical products,develop export trade markets,take the road of market diversification,and actively strengthen the interconnection with ASEAN industrial chain,so as to promote the further improvement of trade efficiency.
