Study On The Relationship Between Wechat Use And Alienation In The Eldly

With the development of social media,WeChat has become the second-ranked mobile social media in the world with its unique social and instant messaging capabilities.Some scholars have studied the relationship between Internet social applications and alienation in Weibo,Facebook,Twitter,etc.However,the research on the influence of WeChat use on alienation has not been developed in the academic field,and the influence of WeChat use on alienation for the elderly from marginal groups is even less studied.Therefore,the research on the alienation of this group has great value and social significance.The main objective of this study is to explore the effects of WeChat use on alienation in the elderly.In this study,the alienation scale was used as the measurement tool,WeChat was used as the independent variable,and the alienation of the elderly was the dependent variable.The methods of offline questionnaire survey and comparative study were adopted.Taking the aged population as the research object,two categories of aged population using WeChat and not using WeChat were randomly selected to compare the similarities and differences of their sense of alienation.Pay attention to the situation of their alienation,explore the influence of WeChat use on alienation in the elderly,and find out whether WeChat use can alleviate the sense of alienation in the elderly.After the analysis of 308 valid questionnaires collected in this paper,it is found that the elderly generally had alienation,but the elderly who use WeChat have a lower degree of alienation than those who do not use WeChat.At the same time,differences in WeChat use intensity and demographic characteristics of the elderly would affect their alienation,but no correlation was found between the demographic characteristics of the elderly and their WeChat use behavior.
