On March 22,2018,US President Trump officially signed a presidential memorandum against China's "economic aggression" and imposed tariffs on US imports worth 60 billion US dollars,thus marking the beginning of this China-US trade war.The China-U.S.Trade war is one of the major topics reported by the world media in 2018 and 2019.From China and the United States to countries around the world,it has paid much attention to this event."People's Daily" and "New York Times",as representatives of mainstream media in China and the United States,have a representative content.Therefore,this article selects 534 reports on the China-US trade war between the People's Daily and the New York Times from March 2018 to August 2019.In-depth combing and analysis,the research uses a content analysis method to analyze these samples from the dimensions of the number of reports,news sources,report genre,subject,subject and center of gravity,emotional attitude,and direction of the report.Based on the analysis,this article summarizes the similarities and differences between the People's Daily and the New York Times' reporting characteristics on this topic,analyzes the reasons for their formation,and uses this as a basis for the development of China's future practical work on related topics Put forward some ideas and thoughts.
