Research On Library Reading Promotion In The Early Period Of The People's Republic Of China(1949-1956)

The early period of the People's Republic of China is a special historical period.The historical background of the prosperity of all kinds of things provides social conditions for the development of library reading promotion.This library reading promotion in this period has important theoretical and practical significance,but also carries the connotation of opening up the wisdom of the people and popularizing education.At present,there is almost no research on library reading promotion specifically for the historical period of the early days of the founding of New China..This research follows the historical and realistic research attitude to look at the development of library reading promotion in the early days of the founding of New China.Through scientific research methods such as literature research methods and case analysis methods,it explores the development of library reading promotion in the early years of New China.The first chapter is the introduction.The second chapter starts with the overview of the background.At that time,the main influences on the library reading promotion were the promotion of national cultural policies,the guidance of the experience of the Soviet union,the growth of the public's demand for reading,and the library undertaking entering a new development stage.The third chapter grasps the general situation of reading promotion in libraries at the time.The study found that the libraries that carried out reading promotion were mainly public libraries,followed by the library of cultural centers and the library of labor unions.Various types of libraries are concentrated in East China,Northeast China,North China and Southwest China.Each public library has set up a promotion group or a mass working group to carry out reading promotion work.At the same time,in order to solve the shortage of librarians at the time and insufficient business capabilities,continuing education such as library school education and practical training classes have been developed.And continuing education pays more attention to the training of librarians on readingpromotion.Under the policy of serving workers,peasants and soldiers,library reading promotion targets more workers,farmers,and soldiers.According to the statistics of working methods,it was very common to organize reading groups,compile recommended bibliographies,organize book exhibitions,hold seminars and report meetings.The next three chapters focus on the detailed study of organizing reading group and compiling recommendation bibliography,and carry out a comprehensive analysis in terms of its development process,feature analysis,and functional cognition.At the same time,other work methods with the characteristics of the times are also simplified Introduction to give a glimpse of the entire library reading promotion in the early days of the founding of New China.The last chapter is a reflection on the reading promotion work in this period.Although the reading promotion work at that time was of an era and served the current affairs movement and central work,it penetrated into the broad masses of people by "taking books as people" and significantly improved it.At that time,the social reading atmosphere and children's reading work also began to pay attention,which promoted the change of the library's active service concept.However,there still existed the problems of cadre business ability to be improved,separation from the nature of propaganda books,and lack of connection and participation of social forces.Finally,it puts forward some reference measures for contemporary reading promotion from the role of activists and paying attention to the follow-up reading guidance of readers.
