With the rapid popularization of the Internet,the proportion of online literature and art in the public's life has gradually increased.As an important part of online literature and art,online variety shows have also been favored by the public.Today,with the increasing popularity of online variety shows,it is gradually showing a trend of vertical subdivision.This article,which selects the online variety shows with the feature of vertical subdivision as the research object,analyzes the reason based on its background,and explores the development dilemma of the phenomenon,and provides a theoretical basis for the creation and development of online variety shows.This article has five parts.The first part is the introduction.It mainly discusses four aspects: research object,research background,research status,research purpose and significance,and research method.Due to the lack of authoritative and clear definition of the vertical subdivision of variety shows,based on previous studies and theoretical analysis,this article summarizes the vertical subdivision as follows.The creators' selection of the theme abandon extensive content expression,and instead dig into a certain type(theme),and continue to subdivide and deepen this type(theme)into specific areas;in addition,the creators will also convey in-depth information(such as relevant professional knowledge and contents)to the audience;therefore,the programs are more professional and can better meet the expectations and needs of specific audiences.The first chapter describes the evolution of the vertical subdivision of online variety shows.Since the awareness of vertical subdivisions has sprung up from TV variety shows,this chapter discusses the vertical segmentation consciousness and the production of media content,and focuses on TV variety shows to study the evolution process of its vertical segmentation consciousness.The author has gradually transitioned from TV media to online variety shows with a sense of vertical subdivision,and summarizes the specific phenomenon of online variety shows with a trend of vertical subdivision from emergence to development.The second chapter explains the reasons for the prevalence of this phenomenon from the perspectives of creator,cultural context and audience.This article continues to discuss the prevalence of vertical segmentation of online variety shows through the methods of “use and satisfaction”,“mass entertainment theory”,“reception aesthetics”,and other aspects,from viewing the highest-the choice of creators,cultivation and recognition-the promotion of audiences to discuss the motivation.In addition,youth subculture,as one of the prevailing cultural contexts,has largely affected the process of the vertical subdivision trend of online variety shows.This chapter firstly sorts out the development process of youth subcultures,and points out that youth subcultures present the characteristics of virtualization and globalization in online variety shows with a vertical subdivision phenomenon.On this basis,youth subcultures have also largely filled the gaps in mainstream culture.The third chapter discusses the characteristics of network variety shows with vertical subdivision trend from four aspects: the selection of program subject matter,the setting of participants,the design of performance content,and the value of satisfying demand,and draws several attributes of this type of programs: the marginalized characteristics that distinguish them from the mainstream in subject matter;the personnel that have taken over the baton of TV star-making and become the main stage of star-making;the tendency of professionalization and intellectualization in content;and the hierarchical value of entertainment in satisfying demand.Based on the previous analysis,Chapter 4 first pointed out the dilemma of the development of network variety shows with a vertical segmentation trend.It considers that the homogeneity of the content of the program,the narrow acceptance of the audience,and the entertainment of cultural dissemination are still needed to face.Afterwards,this article believes that the quality of the content,the innovation of the program,and the producer's sense of responsibility are the key to solving the problem,and call for the healthy development of related industries.Finally,the author believes that the refinement and extension of sub-types,the digging and complementation of types,and the tendency of the integration of network contents and television contents will be the future trend of online variety shows with a vertical segmentation trend.
