Research On The Construction Of Macao's Image By People's Daily(1999-2018)

This article takes the Macao news reports of People's Daily from 1999 to 2018 as the research object and explore the image of Macao constructed by People's Daily.The article adopts the method of content analysis and text analysis,focusing on analyzing the characteristics of the People's Daily on Macao reports,the news reporting framework,the media image of Macao constructed and its changes,the symbolic composition of the media image,and the factors behind the image construction.It also provides solutions to the problems in the media image of Macao constructed.The article found that the People's Daily reports on Macao were mainly news reports and used short length(within 500 words),while the layout of the reports were mainly featured in the news edition.On the subject of the report,political issues are absolutely dominant,and economic,cultural,and social issues are also covered.The source of the articles is mainly from the People's Daily and the Xinhua News Agency.The source of the manuscript is official discourse,showing a positive tendency of reporting.A review of the reports of Macao in the past two decades shows that the second decade,on the basis of the continuation of the characteristics of the first decade,has not seen significant changes in other aspects except the change in the form of the reports.The reason is that the consistency of the "one country,two systems" policy has continued.The news framework of People's Daily's Macao-related reports mainly includes six news frameworks: the political consequence framework,the economic consequence framework,the leadership framework,the fact framework,the cooperation framework and the advocacy framework,and thus constructs the reality of Macao.Through the analysis of the above content and the analysis of specific texts,the image of Macao in the political,economic,cultural,social,civic,and educational fields in the two decades from 1999 to 2008 and 2009 to 2018 was summarized.The article found that the People's Daily reported based on the positive and neutral tends to construct an active and positive media image of Macao.Although the image of the two decades is slightly different,ithas only partially changed and its core has not changed a lot.The new characterization based on inheriting the characteristics of the previous stage,which has a distinctive mark of the development of the time.This article holds that the image of Macao constructed by People's Daily is influenced by the construction of policy model and national identity,the positioning of the relationship between Macao and national development,the media attribute and the value preference,which is an ideal harmonious and beautiful construction effect,and covers the problems existing in the real society of Macao.Therefore,in future reports,it is necessary to strengthen the in-depth and comprehensive care of all areas of Macao society,to show the real and superficial Macao customs.Listen to the real expressions of Macao society,and balance the multi-party cognition of news events,form the social synergy to constructing an objective and real Macao,so that the audience can perceive the real Macao under the guidance of "rationality" in the image of Macao in harmony and stability.
