The underwater wireless sensor network(UWSN)has broad application prospect and research value.The underwater environment and the uniqueness of communication channels make it difficult for terrestrial wireless sensor networks to be directly applied to UWSN.At present,the technology of UWSN is under developing,and further research is needed.Collecting data from underwater sensors is one of the important applications of UWSN.Designing a data collection method that can reduce the energy consumption of underwater sensors and has a short data collection delay is the goal at this stage.The single-hop UWSN has a short data collection delay when collecting data in real time.However,underwater acoustic communication suffers from severe path loss and noise interference,which makes the energy consumption of underwater sensor nodes larger.In scenarios that do not require real-time data collection,we can introduce an autonomous underwater vehicle(AUV)into the UWSN to periodically collect data from the nodes,at the cost of appropriately extending the data collection delay.It has the effect of reducing node energy consumption.This paper introduces AUV as a relay node into the UWSN,collects data in the form of underwater acoustic communication.We analyze the impact of AUV relay on the network's communication quality and energy consumption.An AUV relay position optimization model is constructed,so as to determine the AUV relay position that achieves the best network communication quality and the minimum node energy consumption.Then,by constructing an AUV relay data collection model,all the relay positions of AUV were determined under the goal of reducing the total energy consumption of nodes.The shortest navigation path was planned for AUV by adopting the appropriate path planning algorithm,so as to shorten the cruise period of AUV and the data collection delay of nodes.In order to evaluate the performance of the data collection strategy with AUV relay,we will introduce and analyze a variety of data collection strategies and conduct a large number of simulation and comparison experiments.The results show that in the scenario where the amount of data of the underwater sensor node is small,the data collection strategy of the AUV relay can achieve a compromise between the energy consumption of the underwater sensorand the data collection delay.In the case of a large amount of data from underwater sensor nodes,the data collection strategy of the AUV relay will be limited by the information transmission rate of underwater acoustic communication,and the overall performance will be slightly reduced.
