| The Internet era and the "risk society" almost came at the same time.In recent years,catastrophic events have frequently taken place in China,and the importance of disaster news rises.The development of new media technology provides a different international flat for disaster news.Overseas social platforms have gradually become a new field where Chinese mainstream media can spread their voices to global users.This paper combines quantitative and qualitative research ways to investigate the discourse characteristics of Xinhua News Agency's Twitter account about disaster news from 2013 to 2017.The specific ideas are as follows.Firstly,the article constructs the theoretical framework based on two perspectives from VanDijk,which are text and context.Secondly,it uses the python to grab the data from the twitter website and analyzes them.On the view of text,this article analyzes from four levels,vocabulary,sentence pattern,form and rhetoric.On the view of context,quantitative analysis is carried out from four perspectives: capacity,limitation,dominant framework,the information source,interactive and the label.Lastly,this paper summarizes the discourse characteristics and difficulties of the mainstream media about disaster reports on overseas social platforms.It also puts forward some ideas about the discourse innovation in terms of the behaviors of mainstream media on the overseas social platforms.The study found that the discourse of Xinhua News Agency's Twitter account about disaster news has been developing steadily in the process of "change and invariability" in the past five years.At the level of change,in terms of the style of discourse,the official discourse has been replaced by people's livelihood discourseIn terms of discourse form,the usage rate of pictures and videos has been significantly improved,and the visual effect of tweets has been emphasized.In terms of discourse influence,the situation of "self-talk " in media has been changed,and the number of likes,comments and retweets has significantly increased.At the same time,Xinhua News Agency maintains the principle of objective,fair and timely reporting,insists the authority and credibility of the media,and gradually builds a bridge forcommunication between Chinese media and overseas audiences.Facing the new international environment,Xinhua News Agency also has certain difficulties,such as large limitation gap,presenting events incompletely,"push" dissemination and insufficient cooperation between accounts.In order to solve these problems,this paper further suggests that it should build an open information environment,stimulate the emotional resonance between the audience and the disaster,response to user's concerns in time,and improve user's stickiness.Importantly,it should strengthen interaction between accounts and gradually establish a diversified communicative matrix in the world.The innovation of this research lies in the combination of qualitative and quantitative methods.Also,the time span of this article is long and the research is scientific.Besides Xinhua News Agency,a large number of central and provincial media in China have started the exploration on overseas social platforms.The contents discussed in chapter 5 of this paper have practical significance to this exploration. |
