DMAC(Direct Memory Access Controller)is an important module in digital circuit systems.The main function of DMAC is to achieve the movement of data between the memory and the peripheral without CPU.This allows other devices to reduce the excessive use of the CPU and bus and improving system efficiency.With the development of very large scale integrated circuits,the design method based on IP(Intellectual Property)has greatly improved the design efficiency of integrated circuits and shortened the project cycle,which has become the mainstream method of IC development.As an important part of the input and output system,DMAC is usually integrated into various So C(System-on-Chip,So C)systems in the form of IP.The current research on DMAC IP focuses on high performance and easy reuse.However,with the rapid development of battery equipment,power issues have become increasingly serious,and low power has become one of the important considerations for a sophisticated DMAC IP.The core content of this thesis is based on the general DMAC IP,and proposes the Context Sensitive Automatically Clock Regulate(CSACR)technology to analysis and optimize it to achieve power reduction.Firstly,the power analysis and optimization of CMOS integrated circuits are studied.The power of CMOS integrated circuits and the optimization method of power consumption at different abstract levels are analyzed.Then,the principle and circuit structure of DMAC are analyzed.It mainly introduces the principle and development of DMA transfer,and conducts in-depth research and analysis on the hardware circuit structure of DMAC IP to be optimized.Then,for the DMAC IP to be optimized,a power optimization scheme is proposed,and a low power design is implemented according to it;Finally,power simulation and chip power test of DMAC IP are implemented,and to finally confirm that the DMAC IP can save more than 88% of power consumption in idle state by analyzing of the power simulation and test results.CSACR is the innovation of this paper.Its main principle is to judge the working state of the circuit by monitoring the key signals inside the circuit,and then to adjust the circuit clock according to the working state of the circuit in order to save power.The advantage of this method is that it can adjust the clock dynamically according to the working state of the circuit,and the effect of power optimization is obvious and has little influence on the performance of the circuit.The research results of this paper have been successfully applied on a baseband chips of Intel,which has significantly reduced the power consumption of the DMAC module on this chip.
