Discourse Analysis Of The National "Two Sessions" Editorial In People's Daily(1978-2018)

The "two sessions" occupy an extremely important position in China's political life.The annual "two sessions" are an important opportunity for the people of the whole country to understand the major resolutions of the party and the state,and the process of socialist modernization,and understand the goals and priorities of the government work in the new year,and understand the decision-making information about the vital interests of the people.As the mouthpiece of the party,People's Daily always conveys the spirit and instructions of the conference to the audience at the first time,and its editorials represent the highest level of the editorial department.This article takes the "two sessions" editorial of the People's Daily from 1978 to 2018 as the research object,and explores the characteristics of the editorial discourse and how it has been made changes with the progress of society and the perfection of the "two sessions" system in the past 40 years.This paper mainly uses the research perspective of discourse analysis,and uses the methods of quantitative statistics and qualitative analysis,from both angles of the text and context to study the discourse construction of the editors of the "two sessions".The article begins with the five aspects of the number of reports,the layout of the pages,the features of the pages,the news schema and the topic structure,explains and analyzes the macroscopic aspects of the discourse of the "two sessions".Then it conducts research on the title,narrative perspective,wording style and rhetorical type,and summarizes the specific characteristics of the "two sessions" editorial of the People's Daily in terms of microstructure and rhetoric.Next is the key research part of this paper.On the basis of text analysis,the discourse texts of the "two sessions" are placed in a broad social background,and the characteristics and changes of the "two sessions" editorials of the People's Daily since the reform and opening up are analyzed from the perspective of context,it analyzes the deep-rooted reasons that influence the construction of discourse reality.The results of the study show that the "two sessions" editorial of the "People's Daily" since the reform and opening up has generally characterized the discourse construction of "stable andchangeable." Stabilizing the report around the main theme is the long-term adherence to the "People's Daily" report on the "two sessions";through the "two sessions" window,the editorial of the People's Daily highlights China's democratic political process;the specific changes are: The overall length of the "two sessions" editorial has gradually shortened;the objectivity and accuracy have been increasing;the level of rational speculation has increased;the affinity and readability have gradually increased.The changes of these "two sessions" discourses are mainly influenced by the three contexts of economy,politics and news cognition.The establishment of the market economic system since the reform and opening up,the accelerated development of the democratic political process and the media's attention to the needs of the audience have all contributed to the innovation and progress of the "two sessions" discourse.
