An Analysis Of News Discourse In The Special Issue Of The Two Sessions Of The People's Daily

The "two sessions" refer to the "National People's Congress" and the "National Committee of the CPPCC".The purpose of the two sessions is to feed back the public opinions collected by the deputies of the National People's Congress to the party and the government,so as to promote the solution of relevant problems.It is a major event in China's political life,not only related to the national economy and the people's livelihood,but also affects the development trend of China's future society.In March of each year,major media at home and abroad gather in Beijing to pay close attention to and report on the two sessions.Since the edition of people's daily was revised in 2001,a special edition of the two sessions was added to cover the two sessions.Since the 18 th National Congress of the Communist Party of China,the special edition of the two sessions has entered a stage of continuous development and innovation.Taking the special issue of the two sessions of the people's daily as an example,this paper selects the reports from 2013 to 2019 after the 18 th National Congress as the research object,mainly using the discourse analysis method of Norman Fairclough,a British scholar,to analyze from three dimensions: text,discourse practice and social practice.In terms of text,it focuses on the analysis of vocabulary,text structure and rhetorical methods of the special reports of the two sessions;in the discourse practice part,it discusses from three aspects: cognitive perspective,social context and discourse subject to clarify the role of the public,representatives and media in discourse construction;in the social practice,it mainly discusses the relationship between power and discourse in the special reports of the two sessions of the people's daily,In the period of social transformation and change,we should think about how the public rights and interests play a game with this kind of power.It is found that the discourse reported in the special issue of the NPC and the CPPCC not only reflects the social practice,but also positively reflects and constructs the society.In the process of discourse construction of the special issue of the NPC and CPPCC,the media plays the role of "leader" of the issue,the representative committee appears as "speaker",and the public is the role of "speaker".The three discourse subjects are interrelated.This paper not only analyzes the discourse text of the special issue of the two sessions,but also extends the field of vision from the closed text to the whole social context to observe and analyze the interaction between discourse formation and society,which has a certain social direction.The case study of the special issue of the two sessions of the people's daily is also conducive to optimizing the coverage of the two sessions by the mainstream media represented by the people's daily,which has certain practical significance for improving political news coverage in the future.
