The wireless body area network is suitable for medical applications and attracts the attention of many researchers.As a supporting technology of wireless sensor networks,routing protocols play an important role in applications of WBASNs.Many researchers focus their attention on routing algorithms of WBASN,aiming at ensuring the reliable transmission of data and extending the system lifetime.Different nodes have different energy consumption so some of these nodes may die before others;Uncertainties of communication channels may lead to communication interruptions.To this end,this paper proposed a routing algorithm based on a relay selection function,and designed an interruption processing process to deal with communication interruption.The research of this paper mainly includes the following aspects:(1)The system structure of WBASN,including the hardware structure and energy consumption calculation of sensor nodes is introduced.The communication standards,channel models and routing models related to WBASN are summarized,which are the basis of designing the routing scheme and establishing the simulation model.Several WBASN routing algorithms are introduced,including CLDO(Cross Layer Design for Optimizing Transmission Reliability,Energy Efficiency,and Lifetime),EERP(An Energy Efficient Routing Protocol for Wireless Body Area Sensor Networks)and JRP(Node-Position-Based Joint Relay Selection and Adaptive Power Control Scheme in Wireless Body Area Networks)algorithms.Their core ideas and their advantages and disadvantages are summarized.After that,the direction of our research and the performance evaluation methods are established.(2)The unique problem,node communication interruption in WBASN,is analyzed.The objectives of our paper are clear: extending the system life,ensuring reliable data transmission and handling interruption problem.After introducing the relevant basis of routing algorithms,a new relay selection and interrupt processing(RSIP)algorithm is proposed.RSIP algorithm establishes a relay selection function to select nodes with higher residual energy and better transmission quality as relay nodes in order to average the energy consumption of each node,and alleviate the connection interruption problem as much as possible.RSIP scheme solves the connection interruption problem by storing data,delaying to forward data,performing timeout data compression and finding more reliable relay nodes.(3)The simulation model is established to verify the feasibility of the RSIP algorithm and evaluate its performance.The MATLAB simulation software is used to simulate the RSIP algorithm in this paper.The performance of the RSIP algorithm is analyzed and evaluated by comparing with the CLDO,EERP and JRP algorithms.The simulation results show that the RSIP algorithm has better performance than CLDO,EERP and JRP algorithms in terms of network lifetime and network throughput.In terms of network lifetime,the RSIP algorithm can extend network lifetime by approximately 12.4%,20.8%,and 35.5% compared to CLDO,EERP,and JRP algorithms.The RSIP algorithm also effectively reduces the damage caused by node communication interruption.
