As a wireless multi-hop network,Wireless sensor networks(WSN)is deployed in monitoring area which consists of a large number of sensor nodes. In the monitoring area, sensor nodes cooperate with each other, and the relevant data of target event can be collected, processed, transmitted and stored. With the rapid development of science and technology, wireless sensor networks are used in many fields,it causing many domestic and foreign scholars to study. In network communication, the network layer routing protocol not only determines the path of data transmission, but also is a key factor which affects the network performance. In this paper,we focus on the problems of network energy consumption, relay node selection and geographic location information in the opportunistic routing protocol of wireless sensor networks. Two opportunistic routing protocols are proposed, one is based on energy and another is based on geographic location information. The Energy Efficient Opportunistic Routing Protocol(EEORP)which based on energy is mainly from the perspective of network energy consumption.Effective expected value, residual energy rate and packet reception quality are presented as metrics by considering the residual energy of sensor nodes. In the process of data transmission, first forwarder and standby forwarder are selected, while reliability of link and timely of transmission are improved by collaborative forwarding which achieved through standby forwarder.Meanwhile,sleep-wake scheduling is an effective mechanism to save energy by appropriately arranging sensor nodes to sleep.Simulation results show the Energy Efficient Opportunistic Routing Protocol reduces energy consumption and latency, enhances lifetime of networks. The Geographic Information Opportunity Routing protocol(GIo R)mainly considers the geographical location information of the network nodes. On the basis of energy consumption, the GIo R protocol further takes into account the transmission direction and transmission distance. In the course of transmitting data, the GIo R protocol determines the route guidance point through the network partition and the geographic information of nodes, and further selects the relay node for data forwarding according to the route guidance point. At the same time, the sleep-wake mechanism is adopted to arrange the network nodes to sleep in idle time and reduce the networkenergy consumption. The simulation results show that the GIoR protocol has a shorter transmission path, fewer forwarding hops and lower network energy consumption during data transmission. It also improves the lifetime of networks on the basis of guaranteeing the quality of data transmission. Finally,EEORP protocol and GIoR protocol proposed in this paper are analyzed and compared.EEORP has a greater advantage in a network environment with higher energy requirements, while the GIoR protocol has an advantage in a network that uses geographic information locations.
