Wireless body area network(WBAN)is a significant branch of wireless sensor networks,it uses sensors distributed all over the human body to collect biological parameters and realize real-time monitoring of human health.The development prospect of WBAN is broad,it has been widely used in medical care,sports competitions,military rescue and other fields.At present,the research on wireless body area network is still in its infancy and there are still many challenges in terms of theoretical research and hardware implementation.In order to solve the energy consumption problem in WBAN and realize efficient and continuous communication,two relay selection algorithms are designed in this paper to improve the system performance effectively.WBAN collects information by using sensors which are distributed around the human body and transmits information through wireless communication technology.Considering the safety and comfort of the equipment,more stringent requirements on the size,power consumption and transmission power are imposed.In order to achieve reliable and efficient information transmission under limited conditions,relay nodes have been introduced to facilitate information transmission.Information transmission via relay nodes can reduce system energy consumption and expand the communication range.Recently,domestic and foreign scholars have proposed many relay selection algorithms,but they all have some limitations.Therefore,designing an effective relay selection algorithm in WBAN is significant.The conventional battery power supply limits the application of WBAN,frequent battery replacement not only affects user experience but also destroys the environment,it is an inevitable trend that introducing energy harvesting technology to WBAN.Recently,many scholars have conducted research about methods,hardware design and power allocation in energy-harvesting network.However,due to the complex structure and special channel in WBAN,there are still many problems in the research about energy-harvesting WBAN.Therefore,there is high value on the research of power and information transfer in WBAN.In order to reduce system energy consumption and improve system performance,two improved relay selection algorithms are designed in this paper,energy harvesting technology is introduced to ensure the continuous operation in the system,the information and power transfer model in WBAN is established which provides the foundation for the future research on energy-harvesting WBAN.The research ideas of this paper are as follows:Firstly,this paper investigates the architecture and channel characteristics in WBAN,energy harvesting technology is introduced in WBAN,the information and power transfer model in WBAN is established.Then the advantages and disadvantages of the traditional relay selection algorithms are analyzed.Finally,considering the influence of channel state and energy,two improved relay selection algorithms are designed to optimize the system performance in energy-harvesting WBAN.The main work of this paper is as follows:1.The architecture,channel model and application scenario in WBAN are studied,the energy harvesting is introduced in WBAN,the power and information transfer model suitable for WBAN is established.2.The performance of some traditional relay selection algorithms including the opportunistic relay selection algorithm,the relay selection algorithm based on energy and the max-max relay selection algorithm are investigated,the advantages and disadvantages of the existing algorithms are compared and analyzed in this paper.3.The improved relay selection algorithm according to channel capacity is proposed in energy-harvesting WBAN.The simulations under different parameters have been done through MATLAB,the simulation results show that the proposed relay selection algorithm significantly outperform traditional algorithms,the system throughput is improved in this algorithm.4.Group-based relay selection algorithm is proposed in energy-harvesting WBAN with buffer.The influence of channel state and node energy is considered in this algorithm,the problem of channel mismatch in traditional algorithm can be solved in this algorithm.Simulation results prove the superiority of the proposed algorithm,the system outage probability is decreased in the proposed algorithm.This paper provides a novel method to solve the problem of energy consumption in WBAN.The performance of two improved algorithms significantly outperforms the traditional algorithms,the throughput is improved,and the outage probability is reduced in the proposed algorithms.It provides a reference for the research in WBAN.
