After years of development, the server development project has its own process. Many companies have applied project management methods during the whole project.Though the server validation,an important segment of server development, consumes the most resources and has high uncertainty, few companies have applied project management methods for them to improve those problems in validation execution, such as schedule delay, poor execution and so on.The research done in this thesis could provide a reference for solving the schedule delay issue.First, based on the characteristics of the server platform validation, this thesis reviews the history data and analyses the root cause of those 4 typical problems, which are “rework”,“lack of resource”,“uncertainty of issue fixing” and “complex dependencies”.They have impacted the validation schedule in the past several server products. Then, this thesis analyses those risk events which make them happen. It collects probability and severity level of these events from industry experts by “Delphi method”,and creates risk management matrix for each validation phase, and finally forms an executable risk management strategy for the whole platform validation. And,this thesis also shows how to apply “Delphi method” to collect experts' feedback during compatibility tests and then use “Analytic Hierarchy Process” to estimate possible solutions and choose the best one.At last,it demonstrates how to optimize the validation test plan with “Critical Path method”,which helps avoid the risks of schedule delay in platform validation. This thesis defines a risk management strategy for platform validation and helps. And,it also provides a reference for the validation of software/hardware integrated products, such as computer, smartphone, and PAD. |
