Study On Process Improvement Of Automotive Software Development In M Company

M company is an automotive parts enterprise.On the one hand,both the risk of the BOM cost raise,which comes from its electronic components suppliers,and the incredibly competitive market are the challenge to its business.On the other hand,automotive parts become more and more complex,but a shorter developing schedule and higher product quality are expected by the automobile manufacturers.They are all challenge to M company's research and development process.This paper introduces methods and theory about process improvement,the standards about quality management and process management.And Automotive SPICE standard is chosen as the reference of M company's software developing process improvement.In order to investigate the root cause of high software defects are found on the developing period and development schedule delay,some methods and theories will be used.Firstly,fishbone diagram is used to list the causes for analysis.The analysis shows that requirement process and test process are the root causes of software defect.Secondary,IDEF0 is used to find out the gaps between current process and the requirement of Automotive SPICE level 2.Thirdly,for the development schedule delay,ASME is used to investigate the value-added activity and non-value-added activity in software defect management process,code design process and version control process.Basic on the investigation on current software development process,also depends on the requirements of Automotive SPICE level 2,IDEF0 is used to define the new requirement design and management process,test process.And ESIA and ESEIA are used to improve the software defect management process,code design process and version control process.Also,the new definitions or improvements are all implemented on project,and ASME is used to analysis the process again to estimate the effect of this improvement.After an internal audit,it shows that M company's software development process is satisfied with the requirement of Automotive SPICE level 2.Also,the project under development goes with software defects decrease and meets development schedule well.This paper shows the M company software development process improvement activity and verify the related methods and theorys.This also can be a reference to other companies' process improvement activities.
